Every farm kitchen has a quick cake ready to go for when neighbours drop in unexpectedly. This quick and delicious chocolate cake has a secret ingredient to give it a moist and fluffy texture.
Prep: 15 min / Cook: 70 min / Serves 8-10
Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease and line a 20cm round cake pan.
Combine flour, baking powder, cocoa and brown sugar. Stir through yoghurt, eggs and melted butter.
Pour the mixture into the pan and smooth the surface. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted. Allow to cool in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
Melt dark chocolate and extra butter in a bowl over hot water until smooth. Set aside to thicken slightly. Pour the icing over the cake and allow to set.
